On paper, his name doesn't feel right for him).

Rebecca - names are very important and I think as a writer you feel whether a name is working or not. I'm already getting used to one name change - I almost wrote the love interest's new name today and I haven't even changed it yet!

Dianne - I can understand why you would see your character differently when he's referred to by his last name.Jennifer Joycehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14285381115807201869noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3177231120775405245.post-26774480856377123312012-03-08T11:43:45.553+00:002012-03-08T11:43:45.553+00:00I've changed the names of minor characters bef...I've changed the names of minor characters before (and the spelling of someone's last name because no one could pronounce it), but never the major characters. However, my editor has made me change the way characters in my book are addressed to match the more formal customs of that time period. So, a character (and love interest) that I used to call by his first names is now called by his last name. That's as good as a name change in my book, and it does change the way I look at him a bit.Dianne K. I've changed names in the past and, as Kyra says, you do get used to it very quickly. Good luck with it.Rebecca Leithhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12812459785355422501noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3177231120775405245.post-51655187786588712782012-03-08T11:01:48.864+00:002012-03-08T11:01:48.864+00:00I am in the process of changing some of my charact...I am in the process of changing some of my character names too, but it's not as bad as you might think. It feels very odd at first, but I have found that the new names suit the characters better. Hopefully it will be the same way for you! :DKyra Lennonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13853462182450429660noreply@blogger.com
