Cover Reveal: A Magical New Year's Kiss

I'm so excited to finally be able to share the cover my new rom com, A Magical New Year's Kiss:

A Magical New Year's Kiss | Jennifer Joyce

Should your fairy tale be this much work?

After a bad run of dating, Daisy is shocked when she meets her friends one night and it appears to be New Year's Eve – in the future. Even more amazingly, Daisy is holding hands with a man she can feel is her true love.

At midnight they kiss…and it all fades away. The one detail about him she can clearly recall is that his watch was cracked.

So when she meets her new boss Joshua, she is shocked to see that his watch face is cracked. He must be her dream man!

The only problem is – she just can’t stand him.

Still, Daisy has faith in her vision and sets to work to turn them from enemies to lovers. They begin to date and Daisy follows the tiny clues from her dream, hell bent on making it come true.

But is he really her perfect man? Or is she chasing after the wrong Prince Charming?

I really love this cover and I can't wait for you to meet Daisy. The book is out on 21st August but you can pre-order it right now

Cover Reveal: The Grown Up To-Do List

Cover Reveal

Back in March, I shared my news that I had signed a two-book deal with Hera, and today I can show off the cover for the first book, The Grown Up To-Do List.

The Grown Up To-Do List | Jennifer Joyce

Her friends are bossing life - is she in danger of being left behind?

25-year-old Cleo is happy enough. She likes her job in the fish and chip shop in the small town where she grew up. But her world has become very small - all her friends couldn’t wait to leave their small, seaside town and are off, apparently crushing life. They have shiny careers and creative side-hustles, while she is still living with her mum and dad.

But when she learns that her childhood boyfriend is coming back to town for a party in three months, she decides she needs to start adulting.

But what does being a grown-up really mean? And can she become one in three months?

A funny, life-affirming romcom perfect for fans of Emily Henry, Beth O’Leary and Mhairi McFarlane

I am so excited that Cleo's story will be out in the world soon and I hope you love it as much as I do!

The book is out in September but you can pre-order your copy now:

Another Guide To Ruth

Another Guide To Ruth

There was always supposed to be a third instalment in the Beginner's Guide series; I'd even written the first draft of the book by the time A Beginner's Guide To Saying I Do was published. But I wasn't happy with the draft. I wasn't happy with the next one, or the one after that. And by the time I'd pushed Draft Five aside, I was thoroughly fed up. I knew Ruth's story wasn't finished yet, but I couldn't seem to get it right.

There were other books published during this time. Four of them, in fact. But I kept thinking about Ruth and the next stage of her life. And when I started working on the paperback of the first book, A Beginner's Guide To Salad, a few months ago, it reignited the need to explore Ruth's story.

A Beginner's Guide To Salad paperbacks

There was something in those five drafts, so I started to pick through them, taking out the bits I was happy with, and even the bits I wasn't quite sure about but could tinker with. And I started to re-plot the book. There's always three POV in the full-length Beginner's Guide books, and I'd tried several combinations over the five drafts. But this time, during the re-plotting, I shifted the theme a little bit and something clicked. The three POV I'd been looking for were there. I'd already tried one of them before, but their story had felt forced, shoe-horned in to fit the theme. But now it was perfect!

A Beginner's Guide Book 3

The book has been re-plotted and I'm about halfway through Draft Six. And I'm loving being back in Ruth's world. I've known Ruth since 2013 so it really is like being reunited with an old friend. Draft Six won't be the final draft, but it will be the draft that I move forward with and work on until the book is ready to be published.

Book News: A Beginner's Guide To Salad Paperback

A Beginner's Guide To Salad Paperback

I'm very excited to share the news that A Beginner's Guide To Salad is now available as a paperback!

A Beginner's Guide To Salad was my first published novel, back in 2014 but it's only ever been available as an ebook - until now. I'm so pleased that Ruth's story is now more widely available with its new format.

If you're a newsletter subscriber, make sure you check your inboxes for my latest newsletter because there's a chance to win a signed copy of the book.

As with all my books, you can find 'Book Extras' here on the blog, with quizzes, playlists, fun facts and more. Click here to see the Book Extras for A Beginner's Guide To Salad.

Ruth loves nothing more than curling up in front of the telly with a family-sized bar of chocolate. She doesn’t do diets and she certainly doesn’t do exercise. But all that changes when she’s invited to her school reunion.

Bullied at school for being overweight, Ruth’s first reaction is to rip the invitation into a million pieces. But then Ruth hatches a plan. She’ll lose the weight and arrive at the reunion looking gorgeous and glamorous, leaving her old classmates in awe. Especially her former crush, Zack O’Connell.

With the help of her friends and a new, unbelievably hot colleague, Ruth begins her transformation. With six months until the reunion, losing weight will be a piece of cake, right?

Book News: Everything Changes But You Paperback

I'm chuffed to bits to be able to present the paperback of Everything Changes But You, which is available from Amazon now!

The book's cover had a makeover a little while and I love how it looks 'in the flesh' - I couldn't stop stroking it when my author copies arrived! I wrote Everything Changes But You back in 2014, but I still love Ally's story with its sprinkling of magic and I hope it'll find new readers in its additional format.

Be careful what you wish for...

Ally Richmond is dreading turning thirty and bidding farewell to her youth. And when her husband says he wants to start a family, she begins to panic.

Is this all that life has to offer from now on? Popping out babies and growing old gracefully? She wants a life crammed with glamour and spontaneous adventure, not one full of dirty nappies and night feeds.

When Ally makes a silly birthday wish for a new, exciting life, her wish is granted.

But when Ally is presented with the freedom and opportunities she craves, she soon realises this new life isn’t all it’s cracked up to be and that there really is no place like home. But can she find her way back - or is she stuck in this new reality forever?

Book News: The 12 Christmases of You & Me

I know it's far, FAR too early to be getting festive (even for a Christmas nut like me) but I wanted to share the blurb for my new book, The 12 Christmases of You & Me, which will be out later this year.

What if you could go back in time and fix the biggest mistake of your life?

Two years ago, Maisie’s best friend walked out of her life and she hasn’t heard from him since. When she wakes up in 1994, she naturally assumes she’s dreaming. But when she finds herself in the past again the next night and her actions in the dream alter her present-day life, she begins to wonder if she’s somehow hopping back in time. And if she is time-travelling, can she save her friendship with Jonas?

When Maisie is forced to relive Christmases of the past, will she face up to her mistakes, or make them all over again?

The 12 Christmases of You & Me is a magical tale of friendship, first loves, and learning to live in the present.

I've loved working on The 12 Christmases of You & Me as it combines three of my favourite things: Christmas, time travel fiction and 90s nostalgia. The story has been in my head for a long time, but although I've written magical stories before (Everything Changes But You and The Mince Pie Mix-Up) I wasn't sure if I could pull off a time travel novel. I kept thinking about the story and how it would work, but I wasn't brave enough to dive in and give it ago.

But then last year, after a recommendation from my brother (thank you, Marc!), I watched Dark on Netflix with my teenage daughter and absolutely loved it (we binged the two available seasons in a few days). Dark involves time travel and it fired me up to finally get my own story out there - and I'm so glad I did! I can't wait to share Maisie's story - though I'll have to wait until October.

The 12 Christmases of You & Me is out on 20th October 2020 but is available to pre-order for just 99p now.

Happy Paperback Publication Day To Me!

I know it's Halloween and we're supposed to be all about the pumpkins, but I'd like to squeeze in a little blog post about The Accidental Life Swap, which is out in paperback today. If you're a newsletter subscriber, there's a chance to win a signed copy, so check your inboxes!

If you've already read the ebook or would like to know more, you can see my 'Book Extras' here, or you can read the diary I kept while writing the book here.

Sometimes one moment can change your life forever…

Rebecca Riley has always been a bit of a pushover. When her glamorous boss, Vanessa, asks her to jump, she doesn’t just ask how high… she asks if her boss would like her to grab a coffee on the way back down!
So whilst overseeing the renovation of Vanessa’s beautiful countryside home, the last thing Rebecca ever expected was to be mistaken for her boss – or that she would even consider going along with it! Far away from the bustling city and her boss’s demanding ways, could she pretend to be Vanessa and swap lives, just for a little while?

Writing Book Ten: Part Fifteen - Happy Ebook Publication Day To Me!

I'm keeping a diary of the writing process of Book 10, from the first words to publication.

It's here! Publication Day for The Accidental Life Swap has arrived (for the ebook, at least. We have to wait a little bit longer for the paperback and audio).

It's always a mixed bag of emotions when it comes to publication day; on one hand it's incredibly exciting that all the hard work you and the publishing team have put into the book has paid off and you have an actual book for people to read, but on the other hand you have a book for people to read. And THAT is incredibly nerve-wracking. I don't know how writers end up with any fingernails left at all by the time publication day rolls around!

I have had some lovely reviews already from early readers, which is fabulous and I can let out a teeny sigh of relief that at least a few people have enjoyed the book - and hopefully more will too!

Although I finished writing the book a while ago, I've still been working on extra content in the meantime, and I'll be posting the 'Book Extras' here on the blog over the next few weeks, from my dream cast, the book's playlist and more. I've also been putting together a newsletter (if you're a subscriber, it should be in your inbox right now), with a subscriber-exclusive giveaway of a gorgeous little house pendant. When I was looking for a prize, this pendant jumped right out at me as I think it fits perfectly with the book.

If you haven't subscribed to my newsletter yet, you can sign up here

While I was writing the book, I asked for help naming some of the animals on my Facebook page, so if you took part you might recognise some of the names used. Remember, if one of your suggestions was used in the book, your name will be in the acknowledgements, so look out for that!

Writing Book Ten: Part Eleven - We Have a Title!

I'm keeping a diary of the writing process of Book 10, from the first words to publication.

Do you remember this snippet from my last entry?

Obviously, I made a big mistake. You should never say that something is going well unless a spanner gets thrown into the works, because guess what? A spanner is going to get chucked in there at some point, probably within days or even hours of the statement. That's just the way life works, I'm afraid, and touching wood makes no difference whatsoever.

So, I had a bit of a spanner in the works last week. It was nothing major - just some pesky germs that had me feeling extremely sorry for myself as I lay on the sofa, binge-watching After Life on Netflix and clearing some space on the Sky box - but it meant I didn't write for a few days. Luckily, I was slightly ahead of my word count schedule so I haven't fallen behind. In fact, I managed to reach a mega milestone this week - the 80k mark!

I'm so pleased to have reached this point as it means I'm getting so close to having a finished draft. I still have a good chunk to write, but I'm getting there. And there's more good news as Book 10 finally has a title! From now on, Book 10 will be known as...

The Accidental Life Swap.

What do you think?
