Insecure Writer's Support Group - September

The idea of the Insecure Writers Support Group is for writers to blog on the first Wednesday of the month about their fears, struggles and triumphs they have experienced with their writing.

Having almost completed Book 2, I am about to embark on the most terrifying part of writing for an Insecure Writer - the dreaded submission process. I got nowhere with Book 1, which doesn't help the old confidence but I know it's something I'm just going to have to get on with. If I don't submit my work to agents, I'll never get one. I tell myself this but it doesn't make the prospect any easier.
But confidence or no confidence, it's going to happen. I have paper, I have stamps and I have an almost finished manuscript. Eek!

    1. I'll never get anywhere if I don't try, will I? (that's what I keep telling myself. Hoping it'll sink in one day...)

  3. Congrats on getting this point. And, even though it didn't happen for the first one doesn't mean anything in connection to what is going to happen this time. Good luck with submissions and keep positive.

It can be scary out there in the query fray, but just keep swimming!

    1. Thank you. I'm a rubbish swimmer though so I think I'll keep writing instead!

  6. Good for you and I'm crossing my fingers and sending you best wishes for the submission process. It can be a scary thing, but like you said, no submission, no agent. Hang in there! It will happen!

One piece of advice though: Don't think about while you are on your honeymoon!!

    1. I'll try not to think about it while we're away. That's why I've put off submitting until afterwards. I don't want it hanging over me and the last thing I want is being carried over the threshold (yeah, right, I'd break my partner's arms :-P) while there are rejection letters underfoot.

  7. Hi, Mama J. I'm a fellow IWSG member. Glad to meet you. Just submit. It's tough at first but gets better. You can do it! Just keep on going. It's all a part of the process. :D

    1. Hi Julia. I should stop thinking about it too much and just do it, shouldn't I?
