We're told not to judge a book by its cover but we all do, right?
My favourite type of book covers are the ones with cartoon people, particularly silhouettes. My favourite book cover of all time has to be Thirty Nothing by Lisa Jewell.
Lisa Jewell was one of the reasons I fell in love with chick lit and I'd home in on similar covers, knowing it was probably going to be one of 'my kind of books'. Lisa Jewell's book continued in the same style for a few years and I have to admit that I was a little bit sad when they changed from non silhouette type covers.
But fear not! The silhouettes are still going strong. My favourites over the last year or so are from Ali Harris' Miracle on Regent Street and The First Last Kiss and Yours Truly by Kirsty Greenwood.
Another recent favourite is slightly different in that the silhouetted figure is in white and has a floral background instead of some kind of scene. I think Don't Tell The Groom by Anna Bell has a beautiful cover and I'm glad the silhoutte covers are still being used.
Do you have a favourite style of cover?
I once bought a book based solely on the cover. I love covers that are intriguing or different. If I look a second time and see something further, I definitely check out the book.
