A-Z of Writing - D

I've always been a daydreamer. There are constantly people and stories running around my head - when I'm washing the dishes, walking anywhere alone (and I've been known to mutter dialogue between characters), when I'm drifting off to sleep. I can't imagine a time when I'll have no stories up there, waiting to get out.

Do you daydream?

  1. I do daydream, but the dreams are mainly conversations between me and people I know, where I say things that I would not normally say to them in real life!

  2. YES! All the time. In fact we got called in to Junior's school one day when he was in yr6 as they were concerned about his daydreaming. It really was nothing more than daydreaming & luckily he got through his SATs without his mind wandering! :D

  3. I see I've found my place at Daydreamers Anon. :) Yes, all the time. My characters have consipired to only speak to me when my hands are busy but my mind is wandering. Though not so much when my hands are busy typing. They're evil like that.

And welcome to DA. My name is Jennifer and I'm a daydreamer.

  4. All the time! I love long road trips for this reason. Something about being out of my element and the soothing motion of the car makes for very productive daydreaming. Closer to home, I daydream when I cook. Somehow I'm able to make edible food when my mind is a bit disengaged from the meal prep!

    1. I don't drive but many long, boring bus rides have been relieved with a bit of daydreaming.

  5. I daydream a lot when I'm stitching. The rhythm of poking the fabric with the needle and pulling the thread through is very soothing, and conducive to letting the mind wander.

  10. I have always been a daydreamer. I won't lie...I missed much of my school lessons because I'd unintentionally drift off into a daydream in the middle of class! People (and sometimes my pets) get concerned when I'm just sitting somewhere staring off into space, but sometimes, more than anything else, all I want to do is to sit somewhere and let myself daydream!

Happy thoughts to all of my fellow dreamers!

    1. I like drifting off too. At least you're never bored when you're a daydreamer.
